Nail Files--a day late :)

The Nail Files Link Up

This is Essie's Head Mistress! :)  It really is a great color. I painted my nails Sunday night (as seen here) and  today they have minimal wear and no chips. Sometimes you just luck out with a polish, and this is one of those times. It's a great color! :)
(Again, sorry for the crappy phone photo!)

All of my nail polishes!

Photographer I am not.  But (obviously) I LOVE nail polish!  I paint my nails about once a week. I can't afford to get them done each week, nor do I have the time! :)  I love finding new colors to add to my collection...and sometimes buy without checking to see if I already own a color that's pretty close (Essie pinks, I'm talking to you!)
So, here are the brands and names for each of my polishes!

Nail Files! 1/18/13

The Nail Files Link Up

This is becoming one of my favorite link ups! :)  Probably because I paint my nails at least once a week and I love seeing new colors! :)

The top picture is for my accent nail. It's Warm and Fozzie by OPI.
The second picture is Get in the Expresso Lane by OPI.

It's been going strong for almost a week with just some tip wear! :)

Please disregard my inability to paint my nails without getting polish all over the place...especially my base and top coats.

1. What is the name of your blog? How long have you been blogging?

My blog is Seemingly Trivial Matters.  I had to look up how long I've been blogging, because I haven't been very serious about it...3 years! Wow!

2. Why do you blog?

I blog because I like to read other blogs, and I wanted to contribute. I used to be very creative, and teaching sucks all the creative out of me...I needed an outlet.

3. What is the first blog you ever followed?

The Chloe Conspiracy

4. What is your favorite post you wrote in 2012?

I don't really have one? :)  I'm just glad I posted a bit more.

5. What are you blogging goals for 2013?

I would like to post more regularly.  :)  And get more followers...who doesn't want more followers?

6. Name your top 3 favorite blogs.

Too many to name! Check out my blog roll and you'll see why I say that! :)

Positivity (I know it's not a word :) vs. Negativity

I need to worry about others less--what they think, what they do...I know I waste so much valuable time worrying about what someone thinks about me or what I'm doing. Why does it matter?

I also know I waste a lot of time thinking/worrying about others and their attitudes...I can't change people, and worrying just takes time away from important things.

I'm definitely not perfect. In fact, I screw up ALL the time.

Negativity gleans negative results.
If all you do is complain, especially in a public venue, don't expect positive things to come your way.  Have you noticed this?

There's so much negativity in the world.

It's tiring
It's upsetting.
It makes me sad.

Why do people feel they can share everything they are thinking right to your face? Just because YOU think it doesn't make it so.

How I feel about myself and what I do should not come from others.
That's not to say criticism isn't necessary.  It should be done in a proper way.

This is what I need to do:

What to focus on - Signed Print

And this:

http://www.marcjohns.com/blog/2013/01/seek-out-the-joy.html#comments

In fact, that's what EVERYONE should do.  Focus on happy. Seek out the joy. Stop criticizing because it's easy, and be nice, even though it's harder.  Just be nice. See what happens.

If you are positive, positive things will find you.

This is probably one of my favorite polishes to date! It's Essie's Beyond Cozy and it's so sparkly and perfect!  The color is gorgeous...I'm just a bit worried for when I have to remove it...but I think it's worth a little pain and suffering ;).

This week's questions:

1. Do you plan to change any of your eating habits in the new year?
I am always trying to eat healthier.  I'm pretty good at it most days, but others are harder...days that I stay for rehearsals are tricky, because I get hungry and have to work really hard at avoiding the vending machines!  I try to pack healthy and tasty snacks for lunch and after school.  We do eat out on the weekends, but we've been working at only going out 2 or 3 times a week at most (which sounds crazy to most people, but is really a lot of work for us!).  I've been buying more apples and oranges and veggies...so hopefully I can continue to do better this year!

2. Any workout tips to get us back in shape after the Holidays?
I think consistency is key...not that I'm great at it.  Our musical was right before the holidays, and the week of the show, I was at school from 7:00 AM until at least 6:00 PM, meaning I was too tired to work out when I got home.  It wasn't pretty and I gained about 3 lbs over the holidays.  I've been trying to work out about 3-4 times a week, so I think it won't be too hard to lose that weight and more in the new year!  I feel so much better when I'm working out!

3. Favorite thing you did over the Holidays?
I RELAXED! I never get to do that! :)  I barely thought about work or anything stressful and just tried to enjoy myself and got to spend some much-needed time with my family.

4. What is something you hope to accomplish in 2013 that you did not in 2012?
I want to find and do some things that I enjoy doing. I need to make times for hobbies again. I typically just work and sleep...which doesn't give my life much meaning, does it?  I need to take better care of myself, my needs, and my family.  That should come first.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! :)
I hope this message finds you well, and that you had an enjoyable holiday :).

This is going to be quite rambly! Sorry about that! ;)

I will be celebrating the holidays a bit longer, as taking my trees and decorations down makes me sad. I don't even want to think about it...so they're all staying up for the time being.

So, I'm sort of doing resolutions this year?

We started cleaning and organizing our house the day after Christmas, getting some new shelving put in in the laundry room, putting pictures and other shelves up around the house, and organizing the wrapping paper/laundry drying room with more shelves again. :)  The house looks MUCH better and more organized. LOVE.

I got a cool, small notebook for Christmas in my stocking...I'm going to make notes daily (I hope) to remind me of things I need/want to do, and maybe ideas for other things, as well!

I want to be a better, kinder person.

I want to not care so much about things that truly don't matter (even if others think they are important at the time...not REAL important things!), and let things roll off my back.

I want to not take things so personally.

I want to focus more on my family and myself, spending more time with the people I care about, and spending more time on things that are important to me.

I want to get back into shape! :)  I kind of fell off the wagon the week of the show (which always happens), and with all the Christmas goodies? I've gained a few pounds. We've been pretty good at continuing out work outs over break, so we'll just have to step up our game a bit :).  I'm not too worried!

Tonight was "Melt Night," or making sandwiches like you'd find at the Melt in Cleveland, OH.

I've had so much fun just hanging out with family and friends and my kitties over break...I have the post-holiday blues!
I'm going to just celebrate a bit longer (as previously mentioned), but also listen to Christmas music and watch Christmas movies as long as I want :).  It's one of the perks of being a grown up! ;)

Well, if you are headed back to work tomorrow, as I am, best of luck to you in the new year!
May you all have a happy and healthy 2013!
