Things I like :)

I've seen quite a few posts like this, but I don't know how to link up yet (help!), so I figured I'd go it alone this time.
I LOVE products.  I love trying new things (as long as they don't cost a fortune) and am always looking for new products!  My love for things isn't limited to products...it also includes wine! (And other things :).

1. Garnier Fructis Skin Renew Anti Puff Eye Roller.  I'm allergic to everything, so this really helps with under eye puffiness.

2. Organix Shampoo and Conditioner, Nourishing Coconut Milk--This smells incredible!  My hair feels pretty nice, too.

3. Essie, OPI, and Zoya nail polishes.  The colors of Essie are awesome (the consistency is just okay), and OPI and Zoya apply very easily.

4. Banrock Station Moscato.   It's DELICIOUS!  I could not find a picture. Moscato and Lambrusco are my favorite wines.  Riunite Lambrusco is tasty!

5. I just got Clinique's All About Eyes Rich...I've been using All About Eyes, but I figured I needed to step it up a notch.

6. The Urban Decay Naked Palate. LOVE. Sidecar is my favorite. I don't care if it has enough glitter for a middle aged go-go dancer.

7. Victoria's Secret Yoga Pants.  I believe I'm a bit late to hop on this ship, but le sigh...

This is just a tiny list of things I like!

What are some things that you like?

(I'm not sure if I didn't the pictures correctly...if I didn't, please let me know!  I don't want to commit a bloggy faux pas!)

30? What?

I got my Glamour magazine in the mail today and I was pretty pumped, because I usually don't have the time to sit down and read a magazine. Especially in one sitting.
I read magazines backwards...does anyone else do that?
Anyway, I got to the Article: Why Are Women So Obsessed With Turning 30? by Emma Rosenblum, and I totally got it.  Well, most of it.
See, I've been kind of grouchy/down lately, and I haven't been able to figure out why.  I have an awesome husband, awesome family, I'm on summer vacation, yadda, yadda, yadda.
"Post-30 it's hard to be special-I'll just be an adult doing adult-y things and can no longer qualify as a rising star or an up-and-comer."
Oh.  Yup, I think that's my problem.  I know it sounds super lame.  But I get it.  I think I felt like there should be more.  Or I should be more.  I'm pretty good at some things, but I don't really have one thing I'm great at.  I can sing, but according to American Idol and The Voice, so can a lot of people.  I know enough guitar chords to get by, but I'm no Van Halen.  I'm trying my hand at blogging, but I'm pretty mediocre at that as well.  I don't really have time for hobbies while I'm working, so I can't find a lot of things to fill my time while on break.  I don't want to really like something and then have to give it up for more than 9 months at a time.
And then there's that kid thing.  You see, sometimes I think I want kids and other times it couldn't sound any less appealing.  WTF?  Shouldn't I know by now whether I want kids or not?  Part of my problem is that I don't feel 30 (ahem) 31, almost 32.  I feel perpetually awkward and 12.
"TICK, TICK, TICK, TICK. What's that sound?  It's your biological clock! And for many women, 30 is when it starts feeling real."
Maybe I just can't hear mine?  Maybe there's something wrong with me? Maybe I'm just not there yet.  Hopefully, if I ever do decide, my eggs are still riding right along with me.
Each time I think of something fun I'd like to do (like all-inclusive vacations, Vegas, etc), the idea of having kids makes me sad, like I wouldn't be able to do the fun things I've envisioned.  I know that sounds weird, too.
So, anyway, I think that's the problem.  I don't feel like it's enough yet.

1. I feel like I am the only person in the world to be exercising for at least an hour almost every day and GAIN weight.  Nope. I haven't lost an ounce, but I sure as hell gained some. I know this can't possibly be true (or could it?), but it sure feels that way.
2. I always end up watching those ghost shows on TV thinking I'm all big and bad and I can handle it, but guess what?  I'm a wussy and I can't.  I never realize this until it's late and I'm trying to sleep. Hiding, terrified under my blankets, sweating because I can't sleep without covers.
3. I get headaches a lot. It's been that way as long as I can remember.  Pretty much my whole family is like that.  At least we have something in common ;). I have a headache right now!  Jealous?
4. My brother is hilarious.  He should write books or have his own TV show.  Or both. Really.
5. I wonder if the SF pitcher's beard is real.  He looks like the guy from that plastic game-type thing where you would use a stick and move metal shavings around to form his beard.  It's magnificent.
6. I used to be afraid of men with beards when I was little.  I have no idea why.
7. This guy would probably still freak me out if I saw him on the street.
8. I really don't like fireworks. I know it's terrible.
9. Mostly I don't like crowds, so I don't like gathering with others to watch the fireworks, but I also don't like it when people set them off in my neighborhood at all hours of the night.  All. Summer. Long.

I'm calling Shenanigans on my hair and all my clothes today.

SHENANIGANS.

Something to think about...

We all know people that we feel the need to walk on eggshells around (or just plain don't want to be around).  Heck, I'm sure people feel that way about me sometimes, but most of the time? Nope.
You know the scenarios:
  • You call to talk to said person, said person is cold and distant from the beginning of the call. They snip at you, so you end the call quickly, all the while thinking, "WTF did I do to you?"  In all likelihood, nothing, but it still leaves you feeling stung.  (This can also happen in person.)  This typically has nothing to do with you, and often in these situations I've found out after the fact what the real issue was (and 9 times out of 10, it had nothing to do with me).  We're all crabby sometimes (me more than others).  With that being noted, be careful how you address people. If you don't feel like talking, don't pick up the phone.
  • You are talking to others, minding your own business, when said eggshell jumps into the conversation, basically tells you you're a crappy person, and then walks away.  Or talks about you behind your back.  The people that do this generally don't like themselves or their lives, and want to take it out on you.  Even if you try to avoid them, you can't because they're like a heat-seeking missile.  They're going to find you, even if it's just behind your back.  If they're not happy, you're not going to be either. So there.
  • There are also people I like to call the one-uppers.  Anything that you're talking about, they've done it better (or worse, depending on the situation).  Again, we've all done it, but I typically don't make a habit of it.  Some people do it as a way to relate to others and don't realize they're one-upping, but others do it because they have no self-esteem and want to make themselves feel good.
  • Also, the ditchers.  They make plans and then ditch you at the last moment, feigning illness, etc.  This is something that happens to everyone on occasion (because, hey, we don't always feel good), but this isn't something to pull more than once or twice a year.  We're all tired. We're all busy.  We all miss our mommies.  Get over yourself.  If you don't ever want to do anything, don't make plans.  Pretend to be spontaneous.  We'll all like you better.
I read part of an article yesterday that said we don't like the things in other people that we don't like in ourselves.  I can sort of agree with that, but then the article said that if it's something we can't name, it's because it's not part of us, but if we can, it is.  Now, that's just a bunch of BS.  Just because I can formulate a word for something I don't like about someone, doesn't mean I do it, too.  It just means I understand people and have a decent grasp of the English language.
